On May 27, 2008, the Laurel Health System Board of Directors recognized Seth Rogers for his selection as Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital’s 2008 Hooked on Service award recipient.
In 1994, the Hooked on Service outstanding employee award program was initiated at Soldiers + Sailors Memorial Hospital by action of the Hospital's Board of Directors. The suggestion for the award was made by George C. Williams, a retired member of the Hospital's Board of Directors. Upon his retirement, Mr. Williams was presented with a piece of Steuben glassware: Rising Trout, for his 24 years of service as a board member. In his letter to the Hospital's Board of Directors, Mr. Williams wrote “...every fisherman knows that the Trophy Trout is ‘thrown back.’ I would like to throw back my magnificent trout to that employee of the Hospital, selected by a nominating process and secret ballot vote of all the non-supervisory employees, as the outstanding employee of the year.”
To earn the Hooked on Service award, the employee must . . .
• Sustain high standards of performance in fulfilling work responsibilities
• Demonstrate consistent courtesy to our patients, their families and other employees
• Display an attitude of enthusiasm in his/her relationship with all others in the hospital
• Participate in activities that benefit our communities, either through Hospital-sponsored events or organizations within his/her own community
