Admission Policy: Referrals to the Diagnostic Classification Center can be submitted to the Referral Coordinator via a telephone call to the office. All referrals are carefully reviewed by the program supervisor to ensure that youths are applicable to the program. Completion of placement information is required.

Professional Staff: The staff professionals completing the report include a doctoral level licensed psychologist, board certified psychiatrist, licensed physician, a school certified educational specialist, and M.A. level psychologists.

Program: The diagnostic program offers a 35- to 45- day residential-based evaluation and provides a comprehensive diagnostic report including:
• social history
• behavior report
• psychological evaluation
• psychiatric evaluation
• medical evaluation
• educational evaluation
• general recommendations and treatment planning

If requested by the county, these findings are represented in court by Diagnostic Classification Center clinical staff. The youths undergo diagnostic testing in a highly structured, reality-based environment where behavior can be observed in day-to-day living situations.

Because of the high staff-to-client ratio and clearly defined behavioral limits and expectations, staff are able to work effectively with youths who have run away from other settings.

Many youths make significant behavioral gains during their 35- to 45-day stay.

Reports, prepared by Diagnostic Classification Center clinical and counseling staff, have gained the confidence and respect of the juvenile justice systems and children’s services agencies across the states of Pennsylvania and New York. These reports not only offer clear, concise assessments and recommendations, but are written in a jargon-free style that allows for practical, sound decision-making for successful planning for youths.

Education: During the day, the youths attend an on-campus school provided by the local school district and staffed by certified teachers and counselors.
